Boys basketball 2026

After a thrilling Super-Sectional win on Monday night, our York Dukes head to the State Semi-Finals! The Dukes face Marist at 2:30 pm on Friday, March 13, at the State Farm Center in Champaign, IL. We wanted to provide students and families with information about this historic run! Congratulations to our amazing athletes, and we look forward to cheering you on!

Friday, March 13, is a regular day of attendance at York. Families who choose to allow their student to attend the semifinal game will have their student’s absence coded Known Pre-Arranged Absence (KPA), which, under the Illinois School Code, is unexcused. The student is eligible to make up any missed summative assignments and is also eligible for re-takes.

It is important to remember that as York Dukes, we are expected to be Dependable, Unified, Kind, Engaged, and Strong. We will exhibit the highest character as fans, cheering for our team, not against the other team. We will refrain from foul language, listen to adults in charge, and make safe decisions.

MONOCLE NATION STUDENT SECTION TICKETS

We have an exciting opportunity for our most spirited members of York’s student section, affectionately known as Monocle Nation, to cheer on the basketball team in this weekend’s Final Four in Champaign! This group of 145 select students will have floor-level seats in the section typically reserved for the University of Illinois’ Orange Krush. If you are one of York’s loudest, most spirited fans and wish to apply for one of these limited seats, you will need to complete this Google Form by Wednesday at 12:00 PM, provided you meet the criteria below.

Please note that applying will not guarantee you one of these tickets, but will enter you into the pool of applicants. Students will be notified if they are selected or not and given instructions for ticket payment/pick up. Students who are not chosen will still have an opportunity to purchase a 100 or 200-level ticket through the State Farm Center’s website by following the instructions previously laid out.

Students who apply for a select Monocle Nation Student Section ticket must:

  • Be a current York student

  • Be in good behavioral standing

  • Commit to cheering only for York in a positive manner, rather than negatively against opposing teams/fans

  • Commit to representing York in a positive manner throughout the entire weekend

  • Plan to attend our semifinal game on Friday at 2:30 PM and the next York game

    • If York doesn’t win, plan to attend the 3rd place game on Friday at 8:45 PM*

    • If York does win, plan to attend the State Championship game on Saturday at 6:00 PM.

  • Pay $30 via cash, check (made out to York High School, memo: final four), or card (with small fee). This will include a ticket to both games.

  • Tickets are non-transferable, and your name will be attached to your ticket.

  • Students in this section are not required to ride the fan bus to the game.

*Students who do take the fan bus MUST return on the fan bus after the semi-final game, win or lose. Thus, a student selected for this fan section who takes the fan bus will NOT be able to stay for the third-place game and will not receive a refund. However, in the event that York wins, the student will have a ticket for the Championship game on Saturday at 6pm in the Monocle Nation student section.

York students interested in riding on a fan bus to and from the State Farm Center for the semi-final match-up must:

  2. Return the signed permission slip to the Athletic Office by Thursday at 12:00 PM.

  3. The Athletic Department will send out specifics once students return their permission slips

WATCH PARTY

Immediately after the conclusion of 8th period (3:06 PM), York will broadcast the game in the Cafeteria. Students planning to stay and watch the game should arrange for transportation home in the event that the game goes longer than the 4:30 PM bus.

STUDENT ABSENCES

Friday, March 13, is a regular day of attendance at York. Families who choose to allow their student to attend the semifinal game will have their student’s absence coded Known Pre-Arranged Absence (KPA), which, under the Illinois School Code, is unexcused. The student is eligible to make up any missed summative assignments and is also eligible for re-takes.
