Freshman Academy Courses (Invitations will be sent out after Spring Break)

  • Freshman Stretch Academy

    • This multidisciplinary course, taught by an English, Math, Science, & Social Studies teacher, helps prepare students to meet the academic and social emotional challenges of high school core classes. Students will practice the inquiry, investigation, and argumentation skills that are at the core of critical thinking in these disciplines. There will be a focus on literacy and numeracy, as well as academic skills, such as close reading and note-taking, research and speaking/listening skills. The course will be built around problem based, multidisciplinary projects that will relate to themes common in the academic core (English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies). This course also emphasizes strategies for developing resilience, self-advocacy, and strategies for a healthy freshman year. This course is ideal for students who are opting in to any or all of the following classes: English 9H, Geometry Honors, Algebra 2 w/ Trig Honors, Biology 9H, or AP Human Geography. 

  • Freshman Bridge Academy

    • This multidisciplinary course, taught by an English, Math, Science, & Social Studies teacher, helps prepare students to meet the academic and social emotional challenges of high school core classes. Students will practice the inquiry, investigation, and argumentation skills that are at the core of critical thinking in these disciplines. There will be a focus on literacy and numeracy, as well as academic skills, such as close reading and note-taking, research and speaking/listening skills. The course will be built around problem based, multidisciplinary projects that will relate to themes common in the academic core (English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies). This course also emphasizes strategies for developing resilience, self-advocacy, and strategies for a healthy freshman year. This course is ideal for students who feel that a structured transition to high school will help prepare them for success during the freshman year. 

  • Freshman Acceleration

    • This program is available for students who have shown the need for further skill development prior to the start of High School.
