SUMMER COMMUNITY BAND AND JAZZ BAND
Keep on playing this summer! Mr. Pavlik and Mr. Riddle (retired York Performing Arts Director) offer a fun and enriching music program during the summer months. The Summer Community Band and Jazz Band welcome instrumentalists of varied skill levels, age 12 and up, from all across Elmhurst. The programs culminate in July performances that are open to the public. Learn more here. York students can apply for a scholarship to cover the cost of participation.

ORCHESTRA UNIFORM RETURNS

Uniforms will be collected immediately following the May 10 and May 12 concerts. Students should bring a change of clothes and leave their uniforms in the Orchestra room after the performance.

DANCERS SHINE IN MARCH PERFORMANCE

The York Dance Company performance in March included some amazing student-choreographed pieces. View the concert here.

Did you know? Students can enroll in dance as their PE or Fine Arts credit. No prior dance experience is needed and - often - students who were leery about whether they'd like dance end up learning a lot and having a ton of fun along the way.

For those not sure which class to enroll in, placement auditions will be happening in the spring. Watch for more info soon.

FAW AND YORK LIVE: A BIG SUCCESS
Fine Arts Week 2022 featured guest artists, lots of student performances during the school day, and an exciting York Live event at the new Elmhurst Hall. York Music Boosters was proud to be a sponsor of FAW. Congratulations to all of the performers, planners, and crew. And, THANK YOU to Mr. Gemkow and York staff for making it happen this year. Links to photos, videos, "This Is York" features, recorded livestreams, and more can be found on our home page.

WATCH FOR IT:
The next York Album Project release concert is Friday, May 6, at Elmhurst Hall.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE...

  • York Band students are currently on the road! They left Elmhurst by coach bus late on Friday night, heading to Memphis and New Orleans. The trip includes a clinic at the University of Memphis, a performance in the Big Easy's Jackson Square, a visit to "Mardi Gras World," and lots more. A BIG THANK YOU goes to Mr. Pavlik who made this special trip possible. And, thanks, too, to the chaperones who stepped up to help with the trip.
  • Orchestra students enjoyed a trip to Madison, Wisconsin, in February. A few highlights included exploring State Street, touring the campus of UW Madison, and enjoying a performance of the Madison Symphony. THANK YOU to Mr. Ostwald for organizing this fun music getaway for the strings students. And, thank you to the chaperones ... these big events can't happen without you.
  • YMB is proud to have helped students earn money to offset the costs of the Band Trip and Orchestra Trip. The YMB Greens Sale and Lou Malnati's Coupon Sale, along with the Community Cleanup Event (organized by Mr. Pavlik), raised thousands of dollars that went directly into student escrow accounts. Learn more about student escrow
  • All of the Winter Concerts were professionally recorded and are available on CD. Click here to find out how you can place an order.
