Dream Grand | The Piano Project
For generations, District 205 Performing Arts students and faculty, as well as the broader Elmhurst community, have performed on a high-quality Steinway grand piano in the York High School Auditorium.
This instrument has been used for countless concerts, shows, and other events, but is now more than 100 years old — and considered well past its usable life.
The time has come to “Dream Grand” and raise the funds needed to purchase a new grand piano for the soon-to-be renovated York Auditorium. The new piano will accompany and delight future generations of Elmhurst musicians, but the price tag for such a sophisticated, professional, and concert-worthy instrument is steep — upward of $200,000.
About "Dream Grand: The Piano Project"
Elmhurst Music Boosters (EMB) and York Music Boosters (YMB) are joining forces to contribute part of this funding through an initiative we’re calling “Dream Grand: The Piano Project.” It is one piece of a broader community effort that includes significant contributions from both Foundation 205 and District 205.

For their part, EMB and YMB have a combined goal: Raise $22,000 through “Dream Grand: The Piano Project.”
The project launched in January 2023 with three “Eat and Earn” events, and more fundraising efforts will be announced soon. We hope local businesses, York alumni, Elmhurst community members and others will join us in supporting "Dream Grand: The Piano Project."
As you'll see on the "Dream Grand" donation page, varying donor levels have been established, with exciting benefits associated at each donor level as our thanks to you for paying it forward for future York auditorium performers.
