8TH GRADE ACACEMIC/ATHLETIC NIGHT 11/28
We hope that you will join us for the York High School 8th Grade Academic and Activity Night tomorrow--Wednesday, November 28th. We will open our Athletics and Activity Fair in the Cafeteria at 6:15 PM for students to have the opportunity to check out different clubs, activities, and athletic programs with student and staff representatives. We hope that the Athletic & Activity Fair will help students to consider the balance that they are hoping to maintain during their first year of high school, managing a rigorous course schedule with athletics, clubs, youth group, friends and family before visiting the Academic sessions throughout the building, beginning at 7:00 PM.
In order to provide more information, Mr. McGuire and Mr. Doherty--Assistant Principals at York--developed a screencast to give an idea about how the evening runs, to remind families about the course recommendation process, and to let families know how they can view their student's course recommendations. Click here to view the screencast.
On a side note, many families have inquired about when the PSAT 8/9 scores will be released by CollegeBoard. Typically, the scores begin to be released early December, so we expect that families will begin to be able to check out their scores around December 12th. You may get an email directly from CollegeBoard letting you know that--if you create an account--you can see your scores online. Once the District receives student score reports, they will be distributed to each D205 and Elmhurst parochial school.
We hope you had a relaxing Thanksgiving weekend, and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
PSAT 8/9 FOR PAROCHIAL STUDENTS
While the PSAT 8/9 is no longer a required part of course recommendations at York High School, we believe that any additional information that families have to help them navigate all of the course opportunities at York High School is good information.
Therefore, we are offering the opportunity to take the PSAT 8/9 for parochial students who are current Elmhurst residents on Saturday, October 20th at 8:00 AM. The doors will open at 7:45 AM, and unfortunately, we cannot allow students to enter once the test begins.
If you are interested in having your 8th grade parochial student take this exam, and you are current Elmhurst residents, please click here to enroll your student for the exam.
Please remember, this is an optional exam opportunity, and the results do NOT affect a student's
GRADE 8 PAROCHIAL SCHOOL SHADOW DATES
Below are the dates in which eighth grade parochial students, who are residents of District 205, may shadow a current York student for the entire school day. We will allow up to 30 students per date on a first come, first served basis. Students will be assigned to shadow a York Ambassador. Ambassadors are trained to host students and acquaint them with many aspects of York High School. To request that your child can attend one of the dates, please click the link to sign up.
