York High School - Auditorium

Every year high school seniors are tasked with answering traditional questions in order to find the “right fit” for college. However, student-athletes have an added task in finding the “right fit” – one that includes their athletic interests.  Parents need to be equipped with guiding principles that will empower their son/daughter with autonomy to make the most informed decision possible regarding their future.

Winter’s coming, and it’s getting cold out. If you have any new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, or warm socks that you’d like to donate to kids ages 5 to 15, bring them to school! Collection boxes will be placed at the main, academic, and back entrances until November 15th.

It’s time for the York Holiday Apparel Sale! The Athletic Boosters have another fabulous collection of York swag, just in time for holiday gift giving. Visit the York Athletic Boosters page on the York Website today and place your order for these and other items which are available to purchase ONLY during this sale through November 15th.  Orders can be picked up during the Holiday Apparel Open House at York on Dec 11th.

The next Java Live Open Mic Night is this Friday, November 15th.  Musicians and poets are welcome.  Microphones and a piano are provided.  If you need additional equipment, please contact Ms. Shackleton.  A donation of $4 is suggested; coffee and donuts will be sold for $1.  Warm up, relax, and enjoy student performances from 6:30-9 pm.  See you there!

Coding Club is starting up on Thursday, November 21st after school in A231. Typically we will be meeting every other Wednesday. You don't need any experience to start, as we will begin with the basics of coding an A.I in things like simple games.

Hey International club members! Our last meeting of first semester will be on Wednesday, December 11th in room A392 right after-school. It's our holiday party and we'll be decorating ornaments, so make sure to bring in any supplies you want. Also, feel free to bring in some treats! For any questions, check out our blog at yorkic.blogspot.com or ask Ms. Kaniyaly or Ms. McGowan. See you on December 11th!

Did you know that many pets that are given as gifts during the holidays end up being returned to humane societies? This holiday season, help these animals by donating things like pet food, post-its, paper towels, and trash bags to local humane societies. Donations can be placed in the boxes in the academic entrance and outside C278. The drive will run until Thanksgiving Break. Thank you for helping out!

Come out to cheer on the York Girls Swim and Dive team this weekend as York hosts the Sectional Swim and Dive Meet. Diving starts at 9am, and swimming starts at 1pm. Go Dukes!

What's all the buzz about? It's York's undefeated Scholastic Bowl team, which has demolished West Suburban teams at the Oak Park and Addison Trail quad meets on both the Varsity and JV levels.

Senior Captain Dylan Mahoney's Varsity is powered by peers Aaron Ludkowski, Joey-Bjorn Alvestad, and Andrew Trenta, each of whom is a monster on the buzzer. Collectively, they have proven a juggernaut against York's early-season foes.

Juniors Liz Yu, Adrian Zhuang, Aaron Taub and Rhian Fazinni bring specialist knowledge in math, science, social science and fine arts, while Sophomores Jack Tuchsherer and Brennan Zehner are generalists with lightning-fast reflexes and vast knowledge stores. All of them are making York's Varsity a feared opponent in the highly-competitive conference.

Meanwhile, on the JV team, Junior Clare Cockman and Sophomores Alex Carollo, Nathan Jung, Alex Faulk, and Dominic Campione are winning by hundreds of points over their hapless opponents.

Want to join this winning tradition? It's not too late, and all are welcome. Simply come to one of our Monday or Friday practices and check it out. See Ms. Wall or Mr. Bendelow if you have questions about becoming a SchoBowler.

Student Council would like to thank everyone who voted for the Movie on the Field selection of Legally Blonde.  Unfortunately, the sub-freezing weather led to the cancellation of Friday night's event.  However, please stay tuned for a rescheduled Movie on the Field at a later date!
