Softball open gyms will begin Monday, January 13th and are open to all athletes interested in playing softball not playing a winter sport. Open gyms will be every Monday and Friday morning at 6am in the field house and Wednesday after school in the newly renovated weight room. If athletes have any questions please get in touch with Coach Holba.
Hey International club members! Our last meeting of first semester will be on Wednesday, December 11th in room A392 right after-school. It's our holiday party and we'll be decorating ornaments, so make sure to bring in any supplies you want. Also, feel free to bring in some treats! Hey Dukes Thursday December 12th in the Commons is our 49th Annual Winter Art Show. Stop by all periods of the school day to check out the amazing work our Art students have been producing. Students get to vote on their favorite artist by getting a ballot from any art teacher. Our reception is that Thursday evening 6:30 to 8pm where the Art Department will announce the top 10 winners. The final day to take any test that remains in the TMC is Friday, December 13th. The means you have 3 days remaining. The TMC fills up quickly after school and has a max capacity of 36 students so you are encouraged to make a reservation on the Learning Commons website at least 12 hours in advance.
The boys basketball team is seeking donations for veterans at the Hines VA Hospital. The team will travel to the Veterans Hospital in Hines IL to visit with veterans and drop off donated items.
Please drop off all donations in the Learning Commons. Please donate items on the list and help our veterans!
Human Rights Day is observed every year on December 10th which is the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. On this day, Amnesty International Club will be participating in a global letter writing campaign here at York to help those whose basic human rights are being attacked by writing letters to put pressure on authorities to take immediate action. Please join us after school on December 10th in Room 316 to write a letter that could change a life. Don't forget to bring your chromebooks! For more information please see Mrs. Trent.
Coding Club's next meeting will be on Wednesday, December 11 after school in A231. We will
be continuing working on game design activities. New members are always welcome.
Did you know that the longest badminton match on record lasted for a total of 124 minutes and the shortest match lasted only six! Do you want to show off your badminton skills in an all-boys tournament? Boys of all grades can sign up for the BadMANton tournament on thisisyork.org. Download a permission slip and drop it off in A323 or bring it with you to the tournament. We’ll see you in the South Gym on Wednesday, December 11th, at 6:30pm!
York Model UN had another successful trip to the Canadian-American Security Councils Conference in Lansing Michigan on December 6th and 7th. Highest honors were earned by Jack Castanoli and Ethan Thomas while Dylan Mahoney, Nick Pomatto, and Steve Chornij received second honors. York's 25 delegates represented our school with pride. Congratulations Model UN!
