Are you a leader?  Do you want to BECOME a leader?  Do you like working with people?  If so, consider becoming a Freshman Mentor.  We are looking for a variety of personalities and skills so if you are interested, don't hesitate to apply.  

Apply today on the counseling department website.  The application deadline is January 31st.  Interviews will occur in February and March.  If you have any questions, please see your counselor.

Mirrors is looking for musicians, poets, and performers for the next Java Live Open Mic night! The next Java Live will be on Friday, January 17, 2020 in the Commons from 6:30 to 9.  Coffee and donuts will be sold for $1, and there is a suggested $4 donation at the door.  All proceeds will go toward funding the 2020 Mirrors Literary Magazine.

Mirrors has extended the Literary Magazine submission deadline until January 17th.  Submit your poetry, high-resolution photographs, or artwork at tinyurl.com/yorkmirrors

The boys basketball program will soon be visiting veterans at the Hines VA Hospital in early February and wants to provide gift bags to veterans.  Hines VA Hospital is one of the most sought after hospitals for veterans in the United States and houses over 500 veterans.  Please drop off the items to the Learning Commons.    

there will be an informational meeting for the bass fishing club on 1/29 after school in the Driver's Ed room (S125). 

Seniors: If you would like to try one last time to earn the Seal of Biliteracy, the Spring Testing Day for Seniors only will be Wednesday, January 22nd during Late Start. Email Mr. Rubio or your World Language teacher for more information. There will be another testing date for underclassmen in March. Sign up now on the Pushcoin store or follow the links on the World Language website!

One of the main events during Fine Arts Week every spring is the student Talent Show. Last year, the name of the talent show changed to York Live. Auditions for York Live will be on Tuesday, February 4th and Wednesday, February 5th. If you want to perform in York Live, you must sign up for an audition. Sign-up books are located right outside of the music lab, room A155.  Sign-ups are open today through Friday, January, 31st. Contact Mr. Gemkow if you have any questions.

Hey International club members! Our next meeting is on Wednesday, January 29th after-school in room A392. We'll be finalizing our t-shirt designs and planning for International Fest. And don't forget to come help at our concession stand event on Tuesday, January 28th! For any questions, contact Ms. McGowan or Ms. Kaniyaly. See you then!

Bonjour Dukes! French club will be meeting Wednesday, January 29th right after school in room A223! Come join us while we decorate snail shells. French snacks will be provided. All are welcome! See you there!

Coding Club's next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 22 after school in A231. We will be continuing working on game design activities. New members are always welcome.

Girls interested in trying out for the badminton team at the end of February, will have an opportunity to physically prepare by attending conditioning after school in the weight room starting Monday, January 13th at 3:30.  See you then!

16 books have been chosen, only one will win York's Book Madness! The Learning Commons is once again running a reading program through Spring Break. Participate by being a reader and rating your book or by filling out a bracket in which you predict which book will be the favorite. You can find brackets on the Learning Commons website. Winners will win gift certificates to local restaurants. Contact Mrs. Drumm if you have any questions

Ciao Italian club! We will have our first meeting of second semester on  Tuesday,  January 14th in room A227. Join us to order t-shirts, plan for second semester events, and of course, enjoy some delicious Italian food! All York students are welcome! 

It’s that time of year again! Student Council is hosting their second Blood Drive of the year on Thursday, January 16th, and they need you! Head to This Is York or scan a poster with the QR code to fill out the google form.  You must be 16 or older and need to complete a mandatory permission slip in blue or black ink. There will be enough nurses staffed to accommodate all students, so do not hesitate to sign up! We hope to see you Thursday!

Animal club's first meeting of the year is Tuesday, January 14th.  We will meet in a374 after school.  New members are always welcome!
