2022 Summer Fine Arts Program Information
Program Information

Dates: All classes take place Monday-Thursday from June 6 - July 14, 2022. (For the weeks of June 20 and July 4, classes will be Tuesday-Friday.)

Location: All classes are held at York High School. Limited transportation is available in conjunction with York Summer School bus routes, contact the Program Director for details.

Vacation Policy: The D205 Summer Fine Arts Program welcomes students who will be on vacation for some classes/rehearsals and/or students who participate in other summer activities. Students who can only attend a portion of the summer program are still strongly encouraged to register!

Registration Fee: $120 per course (No prorated fees for missed classes.)

All students should enter the Academic Building at Door 1 (entrance to the left of the flagpole), detailed signs will direct students to their classrooms.

Classroom doors open 15 minutes before class. Please pick up your student promptly after their last class.

All participants will receive a Summer Fine Arts Program t-shirt.
DAYTIME SESSIONS
NEW! Rock Band (Zero experience is necessary)
(Learn the basics of bass and electric guitar, drums, microphone and recording techniques)

Who: Incoming 5th - 9th grade students

Time: 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. (Monday - Thursday)

Where: Band Room (A151)

Limited to 20 students, priority given to bus riders.
Introduction to Dance (Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Musical Theater, and Hip Hop)
(Zero experience is necessary)

Who: Incoming 6th - 9th grade students

Time: 9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. (Monday - Thursday)

Where: Black Box Dance Studio (C183)

Limited to the first 30 students. Dance/athletic attire must be worn: dance shoes optional.
Band and Orchestra (Band and Orchestra Literature and Chamber Music Exploration)

Who: Incoming 5th grade students

Time: 9:15-10:15 a.m. (Monday - Thursday)

Where: Band Room (A151) and Orchestra Room (A153)

Concert: Thursday, July 14th at 9:45 a.m. in the York Auditorium - all are welcome!
Band and Orchestra (Band and Orchestra Literature and Chamber Music Exploration)

Time: 10:30-11:30 a.m. (Monday - Thursday)

Introduction to Visual Arts (Sculpture, Drawing, Painting and Mixed Media)

Times: 9:15 - 10:15 a.m., 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., or 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. (Monday - Thursday)

Limited to the first 30 students per class section. All materials are covered in the registration fee.
Ukulele Class (Learn Ukulele or Develop Existing Skills)
(Zero experience is necessary)

Who: Incoming 5th - 9th grade students

Time: 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. (Monday - Thursday)

Bring your own uke or use a school-owned instrument
Music Production (Create, Record and Produce Your Own Music)

Students may want to bring a flashdrive to archive their recordings
EVENING SESSIONS (FOR INCOMING 7TH - 9TH GRADE STUDENTS)

Choir

Time: 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. (Monday and Wednesday evenings, will meet on Wednesday and Friday for the weeks of June 20 and July 4)

NEW: Incoming 6th graders are welcome to join the choir!

Jazz Band

Time: 5:30 - 6:15 p.m. (Tuesday and Thursday evenings)

Who: Band and Orchestra students may participate at no additional cost
