AS.IS stands for "Accepting Sexual Orientation In School". This organization is a gender-sexuality alliance in which students and faculty can discuss ways of respecting differences in school. The primary goals of AS.IS are to:
1. Reduce homophobic and anti-trans behavior.
2. Combat bigotry.
3. Build tolerance and respect among the York community.
AS.IS has existed at York for 20 years. In that time the overall school climate and behavior toward LGBT+ students and those perceived as LGBT +has improved, though there is still room for growth. AS.IS members will continue to work with all members of the York community to foster positive and healthy relationships among and between all members of our school, city, and society as a whole.
