BOYS VOLLEYBALL EARNS AVCA TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN HONORS FOR THE 6TH YEAR IN A ROW!
For the sixth year in a row, the York Boys' Volleyball Team has been honored as an All-American Academic team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. One of only 23 boys' teams in the nation to receive the award, and one of only 7 in Illinois, the AVCA honors teams with a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA. The York Varsity team averaged an amazing 3.81 GPA as a team for the 2015-16 academic year.

The York Boys Volleyball program had a record number of attendees for our 2nd-8th Grade Summer Camp. What an awesome group of kids! While we're sad summer camp is over we look forward to seeing all of them at our Fall and Winter Clinics!

JAKE WENDELL NAMED TO THE DUPAGE COUNTY ALL-AREA TEAM FOR THE 2ND STRAIGHT YEAR!
Congratulations to Dukes Senior Outside Hitter Jake Wendell for recently being honored, for the second straight year, as one of only 20 members on the Daily Herald All-Area team for Boys Volleyball. Jake finished a great senior season with 253 kills, while hitting at a .339 clip. He added 91 digs, 17 blocks and 12 aces while also being honored as a member of the West Suburban Silver All-Conference team. Jake was also a captain for the 21-win Dukes squad, who won their 2nd straight Regional Championship, before falling in an exciting Sectional Semi-Fiinal match to LT. Congratulations Jake for a great season and career!

YORK BOYS VOLLEYBALL HONORED FOR THE 5TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR WITH AVCA NATIONAL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM AWARD
For the 5th year in a row, the York Boys' Volleyball Team has been honored as an All-American Academic team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. One of only 29 boys' teams in the nation to receive the award (and only one of 7 in Illinois), the AVCA honors teams with at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. Furthermore, York is one of only 8 schools in the nation to be honored with this recognition for 5 straight seasons.

DUKES WIN FIRST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SINCE 2003!
The Dukes won their first Regional Championship since 2003 beating Lane Tech 25-20, 25-10 in the Guerin Prep Regional Final. Improving to 25-9-1 on the season, the Dukes also captured 2nd place in the West Suburban Silver for their best finish since the 2006-07 season with a 5-1 mark. Their only loss came to the eventual State Champions Hilltoppers of Glenbard West. What a Great Season Boys!
JAKE WENDELL NAMED TO THE DUPAGE COUNTY ALL-AREA TEAM
Congratulations to Dukes Junior Outside Hitter Jake Wendell for recently being honored as one of only 20 members on the Daily Herald All-Area team for Boys Volleyball. Jake had a stellar junior season with 275 kills while hitting at a .323 clip. He added 121 digs, 21 blocks and 11 aces while also being honored as a member of the West Suburban Silver All-Conference team. Jake was also a captain for the 25-win Dukes squad who won their first Regional Championship since 2003. Great Season Jake!

VARSITY CLAIMS JOLIET WEST SILVER CHAMPIONSHIP
The York Dukes won the Joliet West Silver Division Championship by beating Plainfield South and Belleville West on Saturday. The Dukes finished 2nd in their pool, beating Holy Trinity and St. Ignatius while dropping a tough three set battle with Lincoln Way West (#3 in the Sun Times Preseason Poll) by a 25-12, 17-25, 12-15 score during Friday pool play. It was a great tournament showing by the young Dukes, who would not drop a set after, while improving to 5-1 on the season.
FRESHMAN A WIN MT. CARMEL INVITE
Congratulations to the Freshman A Boys Volleyball Team for winning the 2015 Mount Carmel Tournament by beating Grant, Romeoville, Niles West and Andrew. Great job boys!
YORK ALUMNS O'RYAN, DUDA AND BOWLES LEAD CARDINAL STRITCH TO NAIA NATIONALS
Congratulations to the Cardinal Stritch Wolves for upsetting Lourdes University for the Great Lakes Conference Championship and qualify for the NAIA National Championship Tournament. Connor O'Ryan scored the match-winning kill to lead the Wolves, with Joe Duda and Jason Bowles playing a critical part in securing the tournament championship.
The York Boys Volleyball program is proud to support Connor, Joe and Jason, and the Wolves of Cardinal Stritch, as they continue their season at the National Championship.
Congratulations also to Connor O'Ryan for being named to the All-Conference team, as a sophomore, in the Great Lakes Conference.

JACOB WENDELL NAMED TO THE BOYS JUNIOR NATIONALS ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
York Junior Outside Hitter, Jacob Wendell, was selected this summer to the 16's Junior Nationals All-Tournament team while competing with his club team, Sports Performance 16 Wave. Wendell was one of only 14 players in his age-range in the country to receive this recognition. Congratulations to Jake and we look forward to his continued success with our Varsity Dukes this spring!
JASON BOWLES AND JOE DUDA SIGN WITH CARDINAL STRITCH UNIVERSITY
Congratulations to York Boys Volleyball seniors Jason Bowles and Joe Duda for recently signing to play men's volleyball at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. They will join Connor O'Ryan (class of 2013) who recently completed his freshman year for the Wolves as a Middle Hitter.
Bowles, an outside hitter, finished his senior season with 244 kills, 39 blocks and 24 aces while helping to lead the Dukes to a 21-15 campaign. A 3-year varsity starter and captain, Jason finished his York career with 560 kills, 87 blocks and 63 aces.
Duda, a setter, was selected by his teammates as the team MVP and set a school record with 686 assists while adding 79 kills, 52 aces and 81 blocks. A 2-year varsity starter and captain, Joe finished his career with 1,235 assists, 125 kills, 107 blocks and 81 aces.
The York Boys Volleyball program is extremely proud of their accomplishments, and look forward to seeing them succeed at the next level. Go Dukes!
JOE DUDA FINISHES A GREAT CAREER AS A MEMBER OF THE SUN-TIMES ALL-AREA TEAM
Congratulations to Joe Duda for being honored on the Sun Times All-Area Boys Volleyball team. Duda, who will play for the Wolves of Cardinal Stritch University, finished a stellar senior season with 686 assists, 81 blocks, 79 kills and 52 aces, while being named the team MVP by his teammates. A senior captain, the York Boys Volleyball program looks forward to his continuing success at the collegiate level.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL WIN THE CITY-SUBURBAN CHALLENGE!
The Varsity Boys Volleyball team defended their home court on Saturday by winning the 3rd Annual City-Suburban Challenge. The Dukes defeated Belleville East, Schurz, Von Steuben and area-ranked Glenbrook South to win the Championship, without losing a set the entire day. The Dukes (8-5) travel to Downers Grove North on Tuesday before hosting the defending State Champs, Downers Grove South, on Thursday. Go Dukes!

CONNOR O'RYAN SIGNS WITH THE CARDINAL STRITCH MENS VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM
The York Dukes Boys Volleyball program is proud to announce that Connor O'Ryan has committed to continue his volleyball career playing for the Cardinal Stritch Wolves (Milwaukee, WI).
In only his third season playing organized volleyball, Connor was selected to the West Suburban Silver All-Academic and All-Conference teams after leading the Dukes to a regional final appearance.
Connor was chosen by his teammates as their 2013 MVP, having tallied 160 kills, 74 blocks and 30 aces for the Dukes. The coaching staff and players are extremely proud of Connor and look forward to watching him succeed at the next level!
SOPHOMORES JOHNNY KOPACH AND CASEY MCNAMARA HELP LEAD THEIR CLUB TEAM TO 3RD PLACE AT NATIONALS
York Boys Volleyball sophomores, setter Johnny Kopach and middle hitter Casey McNamara, helped lead their club team, 3rd Coast Elite, to a 3rd place finish in the national boys volleyball AAU tournament in Orlando Florida on June 23rd.
Congrats to their team and to Johnny and Casey. The York Dukes boys volleyball program expects great things from the two of you in the years to come!
YORK DUKES BOYS VOLLEYBALL SET RECORD FOR FUNDRAISING IN THE 3RD ANNUAL VOLLEYBALD FOR A CURE
In the 3rd Annaul Volley-Bald for a Cure, the York Varsity Boys Volleyball team shattered their previous fundraising record by raising over $1,900 for the York-all-Youth Relay for Life, with all funds benefiting the American Cancer Society. Teammates, students, parents and the community raised over $1000 to have four players, Lino Guzman, Bobby Krissinger, Evan Wendell and Joe Duda shave their heads following their match against Benet. It was a great testament to the character of these young men and their teammates who understand the importance of being involved in the community, while representing the program with class.

YORK BOYS' VOLLEYBALL ALUMN, MATT BRAHM, HONORED AS AN ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN
Matt Brahm, class of 2008 and York Boys' Volleyball alumn, was recently honored on the Capital One Academic All-American Team. As a seniorvolleyball player, Brahm had a 3.87 G.P.A. as a finance and economics major at Saint Ambrose. Brahm helped Saint Ambrose to a No. 1 ranking and a national runner-up finish in the NAIA National Invitational Tournament. He registered 87 kills, 27 aces, 100 digs and 14 blocks as Saint Ambrose set a program record for wins, finishing with a 33-3 mark. Brahm currently serves as an assistant coach in the York boys' volleyball program.
"VOLLEY-BALD FOR A CURE" A RESOUNDING SUCCESS AGAIN!
In the 2nd Annaul Volley-Bald for a Cure, the York Varsity Boys Volleyball team smashed their previous fundraising record by raising over $1,100 for the York-all-Youth Relay for Life, with all funds to benefit the American Cancer Society. With what is becoming tradition, all of the boys decided to shave their heads for the cause! A great testament to the character of these young men, understanding the importance of being involved in the community, and more importantly understanding that there is more to being a student-athlete than wins and loses.
YORK BOYS VOLLEYBALL HONORED WITH ALL-ACADEMIC NATIONAL AWARD
The York Boys Volleyball team was honored as one of only 16 boys teams in the nation for the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Academic Team Award. Teams with a cumulative 3.3 GPA are honored with this prestigious award, the first time that York has received this recognition. The team was honored by the Elmhurst Community School District Board of Education at their August meeting.
YORK BOYS VOLLEYBALL WINS 1ST TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP IN 8 YEARS!
The Dukes traveled to Fremd and came away with their first tournament championship, of any kind, in 8 years. The last time the Varsity Dukes won a tournament championship was the spring of 2003 at the Fremd Invite. The Dukes were reselient in winning all but one set on Saturday facing several big deficits before battling back each time. York finished 5-0 defeating Fremd, West Aurora, Elk Grove, Rolling Meadows and South Elgin.
YORK BOYS VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS WHEATON NORTH AND HELPS IN THE FIGHT TO DEFEAT CANCER
On May 4th the York Boys Volleyball team held their first Volley-BALD match raising funds for the York All Youth Relay for Life event. All 15 members of the team volunteered to have buckets placed in the York commons during lunch in the days preceding the event. The players with the top 3 dollar amounts raised for the Relay for Life would have their heads shaved after their match against Wheaton North. Following an exciting Dukes victory, the top three had their heads shaved while seven other players volunteered to have their heads shaved in support of cancer research. Ken Dowdy, head coach, will have his hair dyed purple in support of the cause after students raised over $100 dollars in his bucket. In total, the event raised $772.65 for Relay for Life.
