DISTRICT 205 GUIDELINES FOR SUMMER ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION IHSA PHASE 4

IHSA Phase 4 allows athletic activity to continue with strict social distancing and health and safety precautions and limitations.  The premise of Phase 4 summer camps is to provide students and coaches an opportunity to start sport specific instruction.  It is an opportunity to promote physical fitness and emotional connections with peers and coaches.  Acclimation back into athletics is critical.  Coaches and athletes may choose to continue preparing for their season at home via virtual meetings and personal workouts.  Some coaches or athletes may choose not to take part at all for a multitude of reasons.  Summer workouts are voluntary for all athletes and coaches.  Summer workouts and camps are not mandatory and non-participation will not be held against any coach or student-athlete.

All safety guidelines must be followed.  It is the sole responsibility of the coaches to adhere to all safety guidelines and requirements and any deviation of these guidelines, depending on severity may result in disciplinary actions.

ATHLETIC SUMMER CONDITIONING PHASE 1

The York Athletic Department is excited to announce that the IHSA has released Phase 1 - Return to Play Guidelines allowing student-athletes to start in-person workouts and conditioning with coaches. Participation is voluntary for all students and coaches. Workouts are strictly limited to strength and conditioning activities; sports-specific skill instruction is prohibited during Phase 1 of the IHSA Return to Play Guidelines. We hope to see Phase 2 guidelines released later this summer.

PHASE 1 - RETURN TO PLAY GUIDELINES
Attached are the York Athletic Department Phase 1- Return to Play Guidelines and safety protocols released by the IHSA. (An athletic trainer or a coach will administer daily temperature checks and complete monitoring requirements prior to each workout). Please review the safety guidelines and expectations with your son or daughter prior to them participating.

REGISTRATION - WAIVER - Physical
1) All student-athletes must register and have a current physical on file in the Athletic Office. The registration link for Phase 1 workouts and conditioning camp is: https://york.8to18.com/accounts/login

2) There is also a waiver that must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian prior to participating in a workout or any Phase 1 activity. The waiver form is part of the Phase 1 registration process.

3) Physical - All athletes must have a current physical on file in the Athletic Office. Please contact Ms. Linda Wilkie in the Athletic Office at 630-617-2403 with any questions with registration.

PHASE 1 "RETURN TO PLAY" - WORKOUT SCHEDULES
It is the decision of each head coach if they choose to run summer workouts and to set the schedule. Please reach out to the head coach of a program if you have any questions regarding schedules. Coaches will need to know their team numbers in order to group student-athletes.

If you are a parent of an incoming freshman or a transfer student, Welcome to York! If your son or daughter is interested in participating in a fall sport, we highly recommend getting in touch with the head coach of that program.
