  • Do you want to help the York community next year?  The application for Ambassadors is now available online.  Find the application on the Ambassadors webpage, under the Clubs & Activities link on the York homepage.  Applications are only online and will remain available until Friday, March 24th. If you want to be an Ambassador for the next school year you must apply by the March 24th deadline.  The open application period only happens once a year.  Questions?  See Ms. Dollaske or Mrs. Julian in YSS
  • 1972- Congress passes the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), 49 years after it was first introduced! ERA calls for equal rights for both men and women. However, a constitutional amendment requires both Congress' and the states' approval, and the measure later failed when too few states approved it.
  • A federal law known as Title IX ensures equal funding for both male and female sports in schools. As a result, women and girls have more opportunities to participate in sports. In fact, many female Olympic athletes say Title IX gave them the opportunity to attend college, participate in sports, and receive athletic scholarships.Are you looking for a summer job, service hours or the chance to volunteer? The Elmhurst Commission on Youth, along with other partnering agencies, are sponsoring the third annual Teen Job & Volunteer Fair. The Fair will feature opportunities from more than 30 organizations, agencies and employers and will be held in the York High School Commons on Thursday, March 23 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. There is no need to register; just stop by!
  • The York High School College and Career Center will be open for students who wish to work on a resume or apply for a job online. Work permit forms will be available for those under 16 years of age. Hope to see you there!
  • Attention juniors and seniors: it's Prom season!  During the week of March 20th-24th, Prom and Post Prom tickets will be available in the bookstore for SENIORS ONLY to purchase.  If you'd like to reserve a spot on the Post Prom boat, buy your tickets as soon as possible.  Tickets will be available for all juniors to purchase from April 3rd- 13th.  All forms and information about Prom can be found at thisisyork.org
  • York's Law Team competed in the Illinois State Mock Trial competition on March 11 and 12th at University of Illinois' Law School.  Coaches, Mrs. Mueller and Mr. Battaglia were so proud and impressed with the level of preparation and performance from team members: Amanda Bardhoshi, Savvana Clements, Vincent Cahill, Chris Foster, Zorian Schiffman, Hollie Albin, Grace Tully, and Honey Tey.  Awards were presented to Savanna Clements for Outstanding Attorney and to Amanda Bardhoshi for Outstanding Witness at the conclusion of the event.  A huge congratulations to the Law Team for a successful season. 
  • Hey, York Student! Want a delicious way to help your Garden Club out? Then go to Chipotle Mexican Grill on Tuesday the 21st between 4 and 8 pm and they will donate 50% of the proceeds to the York Garden Club. Simply tell the cashier you're supporting our cause and that's it! Thank you, York Student!
  • Are you interested in studying abroad in college or after high school?  If so, please attend a Study Abroad Question & Answer session sponsored by Spanish Club.  The event will be held Tuesday in room A213 right after school .  There will be both teachers and York students available to share their travel experiences and answer questions.  This event is available to all students, not just Spanish club members, so if interested, check it out or e-mail Mr. O'Malley if you have any questions.
  • Hey Dukes! Make sure you find your craziest socks to wear tomorrow for Crazy Sock Day! St. Baldrick’s Spirit Week will continue on Wednesday with Hawaiian Day! On Thursday, be sure to wear your favorite sports team’s jersey for Jersey Thursday! And on Friday, of course wear your favorite Duke gear!
