Course Offerings

Course Selection Process for 17-18 School Year

Counselors will begin the 2017-2018 course request process on Friday, January 13th. All students will attend an informational meeting and will be given course request worksheets and an addendum to the Course Offering book at that time. The full 2017-2018 Course Offering Book is available on the Course Offerings page of the York website.

 

All students will be meeting in large groups with their counselor on Friday, January 13th:

 

2nd Period – Freshmen

3rd Period – Sophomores

8th Period – Juniors

 

The following schedule provides the week in which your student will meet individually with his/her counselor to complete their course requests for the 2017-2018 school year. Students are required to have a parent signature on their course selection worksheet before meeting individually with their counselor.

 

FreshmenJanuary 18th – 23rd Special Note - The first day of meetings is after the 4 day weekend – please discuss and have forms signed over our MLK Break.

 

Sophomores: January 25th – 30th

 

JuniorsJanuary 31st - February 3rd Special note to Juniors – Applications for Special Programs (Med Careers, Invite to Teach, PE Leaders) have an application deadline BEFORE student meets individually with counselors.

 

Make up meetings will be February 21st – 24th.  Course Requests will be closed on Friday, February 24th.  Upon the conclusion of the Course Request process, you will receive information regarding how to access your student’s requests on PowerSchool after Spring Break.  At that time, students and families will have one week from receipt of the email to notify counselors of any clerical errors.

 

Our goal is for each student to be able to succeed and be challenged academically to his/her own particular level of ability.  Students are encouraged to take the most rigorous courses appropriate for them; however, we strongly encourage families to consider a student’s entire schedule when making course selections, considering a balanced approach to academic, social and extracurricular commitments.
