As a high school counselor, my goals are to assist students in the academic, career, and social/emotional aspects of their life during their years at York. I am here to advocate for students and also teach students how to advocate for themselves while in high school. I have an open door policy, so unless I am in a conference with a student or on a private call, my door will always be open. Students, please stop by and say “hi” during the first weeks of school!
My background in education started at Lawrence University in Appleton WI where I majored in Psychology. After moving to IL, I completed degrees in Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago and in School Counseling at Northern IL University. Over the past decade, I have worked as an adolescent school counselor and counselor supervisor at the University of Chicago Orthogenic School. Before coming to York, I was a school counselor and Department Chair of Counseling at Gordon Tech High School in Chicago. From 2007, I have served in the roles of Dept. Chair of Counseling and also as a school counselor at York.
In addition to working in school systems, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children. I have 2 children, a son that attends Edison elementary school in Elmhurst, and a daughter that attends Sandburg middle school. I enjoy living and working in the Elmhurst community, and I am proud to now call Elmhurst "home".
