4 X 200 M Relay Team and Emma Fisher Place at State
The Girls Track team had a great weekend in Charleston, IL on the campus of Eastern Illinois University were they competed in the IHSA State Meet. Emma Fisher completed her track career at York high school by finishing third in the 3200 M Run and 5th in the 1600 M Run.
The 4 X 200 M relay team of Shante’ Dansdy, Emily Simo, Marissa Sparks and Josey Jelinek were ranked 9th going into the prelims where they dropped 1.3 seconds to qualify in the 8th position for the finals. In the finals, they dropped another 1.6 seconds to run a blistering 1:42.19 which shattered a 28 year old York varsity record and put them 7th in the state finals.

Boys Track Advances to State Meet
Boys Track team performed well at the IHSA Sectional meet held at Glenbard North on Friday night. The Dukes finished in 3rd place overall.
Individual and Relay Teams - State Qualifiers were:
Curt Thieme and Shawn John - Pole Vault
Reid Smith - High Jump
Scott Milling - 3200 M Run
Matt Plowman and Alex Bashqawi - 800 M Run
Jarvis Grace-Hill - 300 Hurdles
Nate Mroz and Chris May - 1600 M Run
All members of 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 Meter Relay teams.

Sam Bode Boys Gymnastics State Meet 6th in Vault and 9th in Floor Exercise
Boys Gymnastics Team Competes at State
It was an exciting and great weekend for the York Boys Gymnastics team.
Sam Bode, on Friday, competing in the all-around, had outstanding performances on High Bar, P-bars, and Floor. On Saturday during prelims, he qualified for State Finals on Floor with a personal best score of 9.45 and Vault with a 9.15. He finished the night going 9th on floor and tied for 6th place on vault. A fantastic finish and performance for a first time finals competitor.
Bryce Simpson qualified on High bar and Pommel Horse. He hit his routine on high bar and finished with a season best of 8.7 just missing the qualifying score for finals by 2 tenths.
John Dicianni finished his season by qualifying for the state meet, after being out for nearly 3/4 of his season due to a broken collarbone, and pulling through a difficult routine under a lot of pressure.
Congratulations to all competitors on a great season.
Girls Badminton Team 8th Place in State
Badminton Team Goes to EIU for State Tournament
Congratulations to Coach Young, her staff, and the members of the Girls Varsity Badminton team who completed their season by finishing in 8th Place at the Illinois High School Association State Meet. The meet will took place on the campus of Eastern Illinois University this past Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11. Members of the team include: Georgia Schneider, Julia Carlson, Karen Altergott, Lauren Liang, Cori D’Onofrio, and Natalie Rizzo.
Three Members of the Boys Gymnastics Team Qualify for State!
Congratulations to members of the Boys Gymnastics team for advancing to the IHSA State meet this Saturday, May 11 at Lincoln Way East High School in Frankfurt. Sam Bode, John CiCianni, and Bryce Simpson will all participate in individual events.
Prelims for the meet begins at 11:30 am with finals starting a 6:30 pm on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Admission price is $8.00.

Coach Doran named Illinois Boys Basketball Co-Coach of the Year
Congratulations to York High School Boys Basketball Coach Vince Doran. Coach Doran has been selected as Co-Coach of the year for the 2012-2013 season by the Illinois Coaches Basketball Association. He will be honored at a banquet on April 27 on the campus of Illinois State University.
Great Job Coach Doran!

Perri Brinkmeier - Trib Athlete of the Month
Perri Brinkmeier a member of the Varsity Girls Water Polo team received her Trib Local Athlete of the Month Award from Anthony Sramek, Director of Sales, for the Tribune Media Group. Last Spring, Perri was voted the Athlete of the Month by viewers of the Chicago Tribune's, Trib Local Site. Congratulations to Perri and her family. Super Job, Go Dukes!!!
Patrick McKenna and Grace Achepohl Selected to Play in USA Water Polo Regionals
| Congratulations to Patrick McKenna and Grace Achepohl for being selected by the USA Water Polo Development program to play in qualifying tournaments this month. Grace is a member of the York Girls Water Polo team and has been selected by USA Water Polo Junior Olympic Development program to participate in the East-West Regional Championships to be held in Geneva, Ohio on the weekend of March 15-17, 2013. Patrick McKenna, a member of the Boys Water Polo team has been selected to play in the Midwest Zone Final Tryouts as part of the Junior Olympic Development program to be held at Oak Park on the weekend of March 16-17th. |
