  • Yoga Club will meet every Thursday after school in the yoga studio. Class is at 3:15-4:15. No prior experience needed--the classes are for all levels. Yoga mats/props are available. Wear comfortable clothing--locker rooms will be open. If you have any questions, contact Ms. Munn or Ms. Noble.
  • Happy LGBT History Month! Did you know that the first legal same-sex marriage in the United States happened in Massachusetts in 2004? For more information, join us at our next AS.IS. Meeting, Wednesdays after school in the CCRC.
  • Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Over 2.8 million breast cancer survivors are alive in the United States today.
  • Down Syndrome Awareness Month: The bipartisan, bicameral Achieving a Better Life Experience Act (ABLE) of 2011 (S. 1872/H.R. 3423) was introduced on Nov. 15th, 2011. The bill, which is supported by 83 Representatives and 9 Senators, gives individuals with disabilities and their families the ability to save for their child's future just like every other American family!
  • If you are interested in coming to open bowling on Thursdays, please sign up and pick up a permission slip in A320. We will leave every Thursday after school from the athletic wing and go bowl at Stardust Bowling alley. You must have a signed permission slip to attend.   • Hey International Club members! Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 26th right after-school in room A227. Please note the room change.   • JOIN VINTAGE CLUB THURSDAY in A334 for a VINTAGE HALLOWEEN PARTY. We'll be watching some classic spooky clips and trying some retro candy. Pop Rocks anyone???
  • Come cheer on your York Dukes Volleyball Team as they begin Regional playoffs tonight in the South Gym.  Be proud and be loud!
  • Come join the law team as we explore how to object to questions in a court room setting!  We welcome new members and are gearing up for a fun competitive mock trial season.  The new case for the season will be released soon!  We meet on Thursdays after school in room A294.  See or email Mrs. Mueller with any questions.
  • The Sketch Comedy Club will be having their first meeting at 3:10 PM next Wednesday, October 26.
  • Do you love Halloween?  Student Council wants everyone to wear their favorite costume to school for Monday, October 31st.  Just like last year, there will be an online voting contest for the best Halloween dressed staff department.  And for the first time ever, we will be having a student “team” costume contest.  You and your friends should plan a group costume and take your picture on the morning of October 31st.  Pictures will be sent to thisisyork.org, where voting will take place between 3rd hour and 8th hour.  The winning team will get their choice of free smoothies or free donuts from the York cafeteria!
  • Happy Halloween York! If you’ve found a “You’ve been spooked!” sheet on your locker, be sure to spread the Halloween spirit to two friends. You can either print out more sheets from the website on the sheet, or pick two up from YSS. Don’t forget to attach a piece of candy to each sheet before putting it on a friend’s locker!
  • There is an informational meeting after school on Thursday at 3:15 for any boy interested in playing basketball this year.  The meeting will be in room A250.  If you have any questions please see Mr. Immel in the library. 
  • York Drama is putting the "shake" in Shakespeare! In celebration of their fall show Romeo and Juliet, York Drama has hidden 40 raffle tickets around the school. If you find one, write your name and student ID on the back of it and put it in the jar outside of the box office in front of the auditorium. At the end of the week, 5 winners will be announced and will receive a $5 gift card to put towards a milkshake from Portillo’s! Happy hunting!
