Grant Applications

York High School Music Boosters is pleased to offer grants to musicians in York High School’s music programs. Students currently enrolled in any curricular music class are eligible for these academic year grants!

Purpose of the Grant Program: To provide financial support for music students that wish to pursue additional enrichment opportunities in music.

Award Amount: The amount of the grant will be determined by the nature of the application, the total number of applicants, and the current year grant budget.

Eligibility
Includes but not limited to:

  • Master classes
  • Purchase of music
  • Recording opportunities
  • Concerts
  • Private lessons on a new instrument (limited)
  • Other opportunities that would be musically enriching

Ineligible:
Includes but not limited to:

  • On-going private lessons
  • New instrument purchase

Obligations:

  • Students who accept a grant are required to enroll in a curricular music class for the 2015 – 2016 academic year.
  • Students may also opt to present their request at a regularly scheduled Music Boosters meeting.
  • Proof of payment will be required prior to grant disbursement. Deadline for proof of payment will be noted in grant award letter. Failure to provide proof of payment to the York Music Boosters by the deadline will result in forfeiture of grant.

Application Submission: Applications must be completed in full and returned to student’s music director. Applications will be accepted throughout the academic year. Any questions, contact Mr. Riddle or Renee Southworth (York Music Boosters Scholarship Chair).

Scholarship Applications

York High School Music Boosters (also known as York Music Parents Association-YMPA) is pleased to offer scholarship assistance to musicians in York High School’s music program. Students currently enrolled in band, orchestra or chorus are eligible for scholarship assistance.

Purpose of the Scholarship: To encourage music students to strengthen and enhance their skills by attending a summer music camp.

Award Amount: The amount of the individual scholarships will be determined after all applications have been received and reviewed. If application is approved, the amount will be communicated in subsequent correspondence.

Camp Eligibility
Includes but not limited to:

  • Local, long distance and private teacher camps.
  • International tours if a camp component or curriculum involved.
  • Drum Corps provided a camp or major rehearsal component.

Ineligible
Includes but not limited to:

  • Private Lessons
  • Groups that meet year round, i.e. Youth orchestra
  • Travel expenses

Obligations

  • Students who accept a music scholarship are required to enroll in band, orchestra or chorus for the full 2015 – 2016 academic year.

Chair Responsibilities

  • In May, review existing Summer Scholarship application with Music Department.
  • Publish York Music Boosters scholarship application on website and in class.
  • Collect applications, review with Music Department and determine eligibility.
  • Review applicants with York Music Boosters Board and determine minimum scholarship amount.
  • Send letters to applicant recipients.
  • Grants - Work with Performing Arts Director and York Music Boosters board to distribute Grant application forms for students or student groups. These grants are awarded during the winter and again in the spring quarters.

2014-2015 York Music Boosters Scholarship & Grant Applications

Summer 2014 Music Camp Scholarships and Music Grants awarded:

  • 10 Band students attended the following camps: Illinois Summer Youth Music Camp (ISYM), Lakeland College, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, International program.
  • 10 Orchestra students attended the following camps: Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan as well as the International program, Elmhurst College, Lakeland College, University of Wisconsin – Green Bay and University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, and OPUS.
  • Two Choir students attended the following camps: Birch Creek and RE: Actors, LLC
  • Two band students received Music Grants for lessons outside of their regular instrument.
